Grant Program

Although there are many organizations nationwide that are involved in various aspects of animal and habitat protection, most are focused on “big picture” issues. Yet frequently the smallest efforts properly focused can become the seeds from which substantial efforts grow. At The Binky Foundation we recognize that the resources for starting an initiative are often the hardest to obtain. Thus, our grant program is focused primarily on assisting individuals and organizations that seek to take those initial steps that are critical to achieving a significant benefit or advancement toward protecting animals and their habitats.

First Steps and Step Up Grant Programs

We realize that frequently the smallest efforts properly focused can become the seeds from which substantial efforts are developed and nurtured. Our First Steps grant program is designed for individuals or organizations looking for initial seed grants of less than $2500 that address a specific issue and have a fairly quick turn around time. We also believe that education about the importance protecting and valuing all animals should begin with our young people in their formative years. We have therefore begun offering small grants (less than $500) for students, their teachers and administrators to pursue projects that meet our mission. Our first grant under this Step Up program, to a young home-schooled student who collected much needed food and supplies for a local animal shelter, was a huge success (See Our Grantees>) and we look forward to expanding this program in the future.

Forward Steps Grants

Although our principal focus is on our small grant programs, we also have provided grants to individuals or organizations in need of $2500 or greater to fund long-term or ongoing projects associated with wild or domesticated animals and protection and or expansion of their habitats.
